Ants
Ants are social insects. Ants live in colonies which are usually located in the ground, but they may enter the building for shelter and or food. The ant-like place contains moisture, provides shelter, and has a nearby source of food. Moisture sources can be rocks, wood, vegetation, or anything else that can hold water and also provide heat to its underside. They can damage structures, and electronic devices, and affect household residents. In addition, many species can sting or bite.
Biology
Ants can produce both winged and wingless adults, the first abdominal segments to form one or two nodes that form the pedicel (ant’s back), an elbowed antenna, and mandibulate mouthparts. There are three main castes of ants: queen, male, and worker. The winged female sheds her wings soon after mating and becomes a queen. The male’s only job is to mate with the winged female during the nuptial flight. The worker, the smallest member of the colony, usually lacks ocelli and is never winged.
DIET AND FEEDING BEHAVIOR
Ants mostly are omnivorous and can eat almost everything. Ant diet can range from leaves, seeds, fruits, honey, sugar, and other insects, scavenging on dead animals and preying on small vertebrates. In general ants adults same like termites and honey bees, are not capable to eat solid materials, they take food back to the colony where larvae liquefy it and then adult feed.
